David Schatzky

Son of German-Jewish refugees, David Schatzky was born in Shropshire England in 1946. He came to Canada in 1953. A graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, York University and University of Toronto, he was a long-time host/interviewer on CBC Radio, best known for his time on Metro Morning and Radio Noon. After leaving CBC in the mid 1990’s, David trained to be a psychotherapist, and was in private practice until his retirement in 2016.

Over the years his experience includes (among other things) being Artistic Director of a youth theatre, playwright, Executive Director of the Children’s Broadcast Institute and the St. Lawrence Centre Forum. He’s also functioned as a media trainer, public speaker, voluntary board member, speech writer, facilitator, President of Ontario Society of Psychotherapists, and elementary and secondary school teacher.

When he travels, David’s first stop is always the local art museum. An art afficionado with no formal art training, David paints for relaxation and self-expression.
